Dinosaurus was the split personality of his human counterpart David Anders. He is a major antagonist in Invincible.

While his past as Anders is unknown, Dinosaurus was a highly intelligent dissociative personality that primarily focused on trying to help humanity with highly destructive goals. He initially used to be Invincible's friend to help the world, but turned on him when he detonated bombs to blow up the North Pole.

History[]

Debut[]

Dinosaurus stopped Invincible (Mark Grayson) from fixing the destruction of the cities destroyed in the Invincible War. Dinosaurus argued that Invincible fixing the cities meant that the economy wouldn't go into superdrive because their abilities allow them to rebuild. Mark easily defeated Dinosaurus, reverting him back to his human form. Mark questioned whether he would kill him or not. The Guardians arrived and took him into custody.

Post Viltrumite War[]

After Mark arrived from fighting in the Viltrumite War, Dinosaurus escaped and built bombs to destroy Las Vegas. Invincible headed out to stop him. He asked him to help evacuate the city. Mark managed to stop one of the bombs, but the city was vaporized into glass.

David escaped and turned himself into the custody of the Pentagon. David revealed his Dinosaurus transformation was achieved when he stopped caring about topics and that he must be entertained in order to prevent his transformation. He was provided with accommodations and he was surprised by the shock of Mark attempting to free him. Mark told him his origin story and how he received his powers, and he transformed into Dinosaurus. Mark also revealed he was right about Las Vegas's destruction. Cecil found out about it and sent the Reanimen to attack them. Mark flew him out and they headed to Dinosaurus's base to start their new partnership.

Teaming Up With Invincible[]

Their first mission together would be to stop the villain Omnipotus after he defeated the Guardians of The Globe. While he battles Mark, Dinosaurus bites his head and unleashes a large surge of energy, killing Omnipotus. The Guardians recover and attempt to arrest the duo. Mark flies Dinosaurus back to his base. After Mark was infected with the Scourge Virus, he is visited by Allen the Alien, mistaking Allen for an enemy. He tells him of his friendship with Mark and he lets him go. Dinosaurus apologizes that his alien appearance startled him. Allen comments on how he reminds him of the Ragnar. Allen flies him to the Viltrumite warship, believing Dinosaurus could breath in space. Allen apologizes for the misunderstanding. The Guardians readies themselves, but Dinosaurus argues that he can help Mark with his illness. He manages to get Thragg to allow him to study one of the Viltrumite labs. Dinosaurus uses his genius to get access to Thragg's personal quarters, shocking Thragg. Dinosaurus asks for the scientist studying Mark but Thragg says he is "unavailable". Dinosaurus would see Thragg attempt to kill Mark. He attacks Thragg, but his claws break because of Thragg's vast invulnerability. Dinosaurus reveals that he set the ship to explode according to his heart rate. Thragg would pummel him and would hear another explosion. He goes to see it, but Dinosaurus bites him, shattering his teeth in the process. Thragg breaks his jaw and heads to see the damage. Dinosaurus uses the opportunity to escape with Mark. Dinosaurus reverts back to David Anders and heals himself. He reveals to Mark that Thragg attempted to kill him. Zandale Randolph rushes to attack Dinosaurus, believing him to hold Mark captive. Mark's brother attacks next along with Allen. Mark attacks Allen and screams after breaking his arm.

The Death Of Everyone[]

While Mark was recovering from his injuries, Dinosaurus had set up a bomb in Los Angeles and Greenland. Mark would visit Dinosaurus and learn of his bomb in Los Angeles. He heads to Los Angeles and gets the Guardians to deactivate it. Dinosaurus teleports there and Mark confronts him. Mark calls him insane and Dinosaurus states that Los Angeles was a distraction. He asks Mark to take a larger look and reveals he detonated a bomb in Greenland to flood the major cities around the world. Mark would then battle Dinosaurus, and Mark says that Dinosaurus must die for the sake of humanity. Dinosaurus capitalizes on Mark's inner ear weakness and plays a frequency, knocking him into a coma. He then trades his place with a lifeless clone of Mark and kills the clone for the whole world to see. Dinosaurus then pulls away back to his base. Dinosaurus would explain to Mark how he was able to get to his base and make it appear that he was killed. Mark explains that Dinosaurus caused a disaster on a "maybe" and Dinosaurus realizes that he is right. Mark then asks Dinosaurus for help in fixing his problem. Dinosaurus refuses, saying that this will be his final act and asks Mark to kill him. Mark kills him and marks his corpse with his thumb so Cecil would not fake his death like he did Conquest.

Physical Appearance[]

As Dinosaurus, he appears as a huge anthropomorphic humanoid that looks like a red dinosaur. As a dinosaur, Dinosaurus has a very similar look to a tyrannosaurus. Despite looking like a tyrannosaurus, his body looks somewhat like a humanoid. His arms have three sharp claws that he can use to scratch his enemies. Dinosaurus has two extra claws on both of his feet. Dinosaurus appears muscular with the abs on his chest. As a Dinosaur, Dinosaurus as a long tail on his back.

As David Anders, he appears as a thin human when he is not at his "Dinosaurus" form. He is scrawny human being that appears to does not have any special features on him. David Anders has brown hair and is a generally healthy human. When naked, David Anders has a few hairs on his chest.

Personality[]

Dinosaurus[]

In Dinosaurus's first appearance he is first introduced as a delusional extremist who is attacking Invincible simply because Invincible is reconstructing buildings which Dinosaurus believes to be damaging the environment. Dinosaurus is willing to attack heroes who reconstruct buildings and help innocent people if he believes that they are disrupting the natural order of the earth. After attacking, Dinosaurus will call them out on how they are wrong and will fight them. Dinosaurus believes that superheroes are the old ways on how they protect the world and that he is the new way on how to protect the earth which implies that Dinosaurus is somewhat arrogant in his ideals. In Las Vegas Dinosaurus is able to showcase his intelligence by yelling at the citizens of the city to get away from him as Dinosaurus has planted bombs on the city.

Once Invincible arrives at the scene Dinosaurus tells Invincible that it would be better to help the innocents to run away from the city rather than fight him. This proves that Dinosaurus genuinely wants to do good, but is more focus on saving multiple lives on the future rather than the lives lost from his actions. Once Dinosaurus is broken out of prison by Invincible, Dinosaurus explains to Invincible that he is more focused on sacrificing lives for the greater good and is glad that his actions in Las Vegas were able to benefit humanity. Dinosaurus believes that he and Invincible are the same due to their desire to save lives, so they team up on saving the world together. Dinosaurus can become so focus on trying to help the world on his own ways that he will dismiss other problems that he believes to be insignificant.

An example of this is when Dinosaurus does not inform Invincible about Omnipotus's attack because he believes that it is more important for him and Invincible to watch irrigation channels rather than deal with the threat. Dinosaurus only alerted of the threat of Omnipotus when the latter became a genuine problem for the heroes to defeat. In the Viltrumite Warship Dinosaurus shows his paranoia and distrust towards Thragg as he is aware that Thragg is only helping Invincible to gain the trust of earth. When Thragg attempts to kill Invincible, Dinosaurus was able to use his intelligence to plant bombs in the Viltrumite warship in advance. After escaping the Viltrumite warship, Dinosaurus is attacked by a few superheroes which Dinosaurus mistakes as Thragg's underlings.

Dinosaurus considers the underlings of an enemy to be an insult to him because Dinosaurus wants his enemies to take him seriously. As a extremist Dinosaurus can get recklessly impatient with his actions, as Dinosaurus had planted bombs around Los Angeles and the arctic because he never took the time to see if Invincible would recover from the Scourge Virus. Despite being an extremist, Dinosaurus is sorry for betraying Invincible as he wished that if Invincible had gotten better then Dinosaurus would have never enacted his plan. In the aftermath of the flooding he caused, Dinosaurus was able to understand his delusions with the help of Invincible. Dinosaurus asks Invincible to kill him as Dinosaurus does not want to get his delusions to get the better of him in the future and become a monster.

In the end Dinosaurus is able to feel remorse for the crimes he has done and realizes that he was only an extremist to boost his ego and to declare himself as a god above humanity.

David Anders[]

David Anders is the human form of Dinosaurus. Unlike Dinosaurus, David Anders is extremely relaxed and is not interested in being an extremist as Dinosaurus. David Anders is only looking for a regular life where his Dinosaurus personality is not interfering with him. Whenever Dinosaurus causes damage, David Anders will apologize to the victims Dinosaurus has hurt and he will regret what he has done even though he is not in control of Dinosaurus. In prison David Anders is begging to be let go as he is not in control of his Dinosaurus personality.

David Anders can easily get bored in long conversation and that boredom is what Dinosaurus needs in order to take control of David Anders. To prevent David Anders from ever becoming bored Cecil takes action by locking David Anders in a room full of entertaining equiments. While not responsible for Dinosaurus, David Anders is able to take responsibility by taking himself to the Global Defense Agency and having himself locked up by Cecil Stedman to protect innocent people and himself from Dinosaurus. With Dinosaurus gone for a brief period of time, David Anders celebrates that Dinosaurus is dead before realizing the Dinosaurus is going to take over his body again.
